Bugsy Malone, Jr.

Well, the marathon weekend is over — four plays in three days is a bit much… still the kid had fun and that’s what it’s all about.

Here are pics:

The first two are G as “Fat Sam”, an important role!

These next two were taken backstage when G is a member of the chorus (second cast):

And the final pic, the finale when G is part of the chorus, you can see him in the second row, just right of center.  He threw himself into the part, whether star or part of the ensemble!

And yes, I am a proud mama!

Snow!

I put off writing to this blog for a few days because Tom is migrating all our files to our new domain host. The old one had rotten tech support.

You can see a few posts at stidmama.blogspot.com for the days that I wasn’t posting here.

Check them out for pictures of the garden, and a couple smaller updates.

Yesterday, Lucky managed to drive one of his toenails through the back of my heel, creating a neat puncture wound. It hurt like the dickens yesterday, and is still tender, but quite manageable. I am going to zip into town briefly this afternoon to get a tetanus shot, just to be on the safe side. Meantime, no shoes with heels for a little while!

We are dealing today with a snow day — for a relatively small amount of snow. I wish they had simply delayed school today, because it looks like tomorrow the roads will be truly impassable. So no music lesson for the elder, no rehearsal or TaeKwonDo for the younger.

So, here are six pics from today. In order: the cars, the witchhazel, Tom on his computer, the elder boy in his den, Lucky waiting to play, and the younger doing research for his role.

Note that the younger boy is in a play about Chicago gangsters during prohibition, so his research consists of old films and newer films that spoof the films of the era. This pic he is watching Ziegfeld Follies made in 1946, a variety show based on the vaudeville era. It has singing and dancing similar to those in the play, Bugsy Malone Jr. in which he will be playing the role of “Fat Sam.”

Finally! Pictures!

Okay, so it took me longer than it should, but here are five pics from December 25.

Unwrapping dungeons and dragons set

Above: G unwraps his Dungeons and Dragons game.

Below: both boys, this shows M with his star wars miniature bust set.

M and G with Lucky and their presents

Now two pics of Tom, first with the cookbook from my parents, then with the cards the boys made him — yes, that is a new robe on top of the older robe!

And last, me with two of the pretty pots for hanging in the window to make starts for houseplants. They are from Egypt. The third one is a lovely cobalt blue but didn’t look good in the pics.

Me with two flower vases

A few things I would like to point out include the sunlight making shadows in the room and making G’s hair just shine — a rarity on Christmas day in these parts; Lucky is looking at the black “squeaky ball” that was his gift for the day; and you can see the floor!  Yes folks, the floor was not completely covered by either paper or gifts this year.  Another benefit of moderation…
