dlink wireless

We picked up a dlink 802.11b wireless router (a model 614+) last year which came with a pc-card also. It has worked fine since we got it which should be my first clue to leave the darn thing alone. Oh no, I have to update the firmware and install new drivers for the card. Now the encryption does not work under windows. It was working under linux but that was seeming touchy tonight also. What a pain in the neck! And I really liked this little device too.

I am going to downgrade the router and hopefully that solve the problems, will report back later.

Once the battery technology gets better these wireless devices will really come into their own. Of course that is many years down the road at this point. It is quite nice to be able to wander to differnet rooms and have the network connection working, I suppose that carrying along a power cord is not too bad since those are liberally sprinkled about the house unlike network ports of which there are no permanent ones but a lot wires strung about.
