KDE troubles solved
I tried doing a page a week but as one can see that was not entirely succesfull. So I will just put up something when I get to it, hopefully more frequently than I have been, time will tell. Thankfully this software is setup nicely for a daily notes type entry.
I put an article someone wrote many moons ago under the programming category this afternoon. For those real programmers out there check it out, it’s a hoot.
Had a devil of time with KDE lately, some web pages in konqueror kept showing not with regular text but with little boxes instead. I usually take this to mean that what is being displayed is not a regular ascii character. This was driving me nuts, I kept hoping that updating the software would help but it never did. Over the weekend I compiled up the newest KDE, I started on the 14th at 11 pm, it finally finished on the 16th at 11 am, WOW. This also included supporting programs and mozilla, still that is a long time. Anyway, that did not help either. I spent an hour and a half trying to figure this out tonight and finally did. Turns out the permissions on one of the fonts directories for X11 were wrong, I just reset everything to give read to everyone and then it worked. Nice to have that solved.
