I have been getting the updates that The Nation for a while now, they carry some interesting articles. When reading their message today in firefox there was a link to download pictures which sort of confused me. Typically these messages are plain text, no images to be seen. So I checked the source of the message and found the following links at the bottom of the message:
img xsrc=3D=22http://lists.thenation.com/t?c=3D468&r=3D2&l=3D39&t=3D10&s=3D= 332654=22 width=3D1 height=3D1 border=3D0 img xsrc=3D=22http://lists.tnr.com/sf?r=3D2&l=3D39&s=3D332654&f=3D2=22 wi= dth=3D1 height=3D1 border=3D0
I have taken the time to fully decode these but when I look at the message after downloading images there are no pictures seen there. So it is obvious that they are putting web bugs in the message, a practice that I don’t like and from an organization like the The Nation I find it reprehensible. So I will no longer be receiving their emails and likely will not subscribe to the magazine again.
So watch out people not only are the republicans watching you (and listening) but the The Nation is also, a group that definitely does not agree with the policies of the republican party.
