{"id":81,"date":"2006-10-31T13:31:10","date_gmt":"2006-10-31T20:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thestidhams.com\/kathleen\/wp\/?p=81"},"modified":"2006-10-31T13:31:10","modified_gmt":"2006-10-31T20:31:10","slug":"first-frost-first-freeze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thestidhams.com\/kathleen\/wp\/?p=81","title":{"rendered":"First Frost, First Freeze"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we woke to the first significant frost on the ground.\u00a0 I cut the last good dahlias in the afternoon and gave them to my mother for her birthday.<\/p>\n<p>Last night when I went to sleep it was already below freezing and remained so for most of this morning.\u00a0 Only the dogs, with their fur coats, wanted to play in the sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>I will wander around the yard this afternoon, but don&#8217;t expect the more tender plants to have made it.\u00a0 I left a couple of planters outside, thinking I had more time&#8230;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oh well.\u00a0 Such is life.\u00a0 And on the plus side, once the dahlias are asleep, I can lift them and separate them for next year, and start thinking where I want to put new beds in!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we woke to the first significant frost on the ground.\u00a0 I cut the last good dahlias in the afternoon and gave them to my mother for her birthday.
